\"jorgeJorge Palma <\/strong>is the new confirmation for the Heineken Stage<\/strong> on the second day of NOS Alive<\/strong>. One of the country’s most iconic musicians joins live and in color for the celebrations of the 15th edition of the festival.<\/p>\n

Composer and interpreter admired by colleagues, loved by the public, too famous for the role of obscure genius, too genuine and rebellious to be a predictable and formatted musician, Jorge Palma is a rare case in Portugal.<\/p>\n

His life path is always observed along with music. An excellent pianist, he started learning to play this instrument at the age of six. During his adolescence and in addition to his classical education, he became interested in rock’n’roll, and in general American and English popular music. During the 1970s and early 1980s, his artistic career was divided between his first recordings in Portugal and the streets and subway cars of European cities like Paris and Copenhagen, where he would face the public with guitar in hand.<\/p>\n

He finished his Piano Course in 1990 and the following year released the emblematic album “S\u00f3”. In the same decade he formed the “Palma’s Gang” and took part in projects like “Rio Grande” or “Cabe\u00e7as no Ar”. Throughout his career, he has released several original albums, composed hits, and achieved double platinum with “Vooo Nocturno”. His oeuvre contains widely cross-cutting songs with themes such as “Fr\u00e1gil”, “Deixa-me Rir”, “D\u00e1-me Lume” or “Encosta-te a mim”, which have become timeless anthems.<\/p>\n

He won the Jos\u00e9 Afonso award in 2002, and in 2008 and 2012 he was the winner of the Golden Globe in the category of best individual performer. His album “Com Todo o Respeito” was also awarded the Pedro Os\u00f3rio prize by the Portuguese Society of Authors.<\/p>\n

The most recent period in the life of the Portuguese musician is marked by a moment of great activity in which projects such as “Juntos”, in which he shared the stage with S\u00e9rgio Godinho, stand out, and also the celebration of historical records such as “Bairro do Amor” and “S\u00f3”, the latter having resulted in the release of “S\u00f3 ao vivo”. In 2020 he celebrated “70 Laps of the Sun” at Castelo S\u00e3o Jorge, in a show with a chamber orchestra conducted by maestro Ces\u00e1rio Costa. He was also awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit of the City of Lisbon and the Order of Infante Dom Henrique.<\/p>\n

“70 Laps of the Sun” was released on CD and vinyl in 2021, having won the best record award at the Play – Pr\u00e9mios da M\u00fasica Portuguesa.<\/p>\n

In 2023 he returns with the new album “VIDA”, the long awaited new work of originals, and to NOS Alive to perform on the second day of the 15th edition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
